James has over 30 years of M&A experience in the City of London and internationally.
He has a clear understanding of the issues faced by businesses, methods of achieving objectives, constraints and how they may be managed, mitigated or overcome. James has been responsible for the negotiation and closing of a wide variety of corporate transactions. These range from standard sales or purchases to those by tender and competitive auction, by governments and by the private sector (publicly listed or privately held companies). His experience includes private equity and venture capital work, joint ventures, take-overs and mergers, acquisitions and disposals, the public offering of equity and debt securities, and their admission to listing on a stock exchange.
James began his legal career in 1978 by training at Ashursts, where he was a corporate partner from 1988 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2003, he was a partner in the international corporate transactions group of Squire Sanders, and James subsequently undertook a number of consultancy and advisory engagements.
James joined Arkios in January 2005 and was appointed a director the following year.
James holds a degree in law from Peterhouse College, Cambridge.
